Using the very classic 74HC595, this shield gives you 64 pins of digital output while only using three digital pins on your Arduino.
The 74HC595 is the standard inexpensive way for expanding your digital outputs. The 74HC595 chip has eight digital outputs and can be daisychained together. On this shield there are eight chips for a grand total of 64, if you need additional I/O you can daisychained another shield to this one.
